Bad Bunny's Super Bowl Halftime Show Wins 7 Emmys, Setting a New Record

Bad Bunny walked onto the Super Bowl stage through rows of sugar cane. Months later, he walked away with seven Emmys — more than any halftime show has ever won.

Bad Bunny set a new record, taking home seven Emmys for his Super Bowl LX halftime show, more than any halftime performance in the show’s history.

The rapper achieved the record-breaking feat during the Creative Arts Emmy Awards on September 5, when his halftime show won for outstanding variety special (live), music direction, choreography, sound mixing, lighting design, camerawork, and directing.
This marks Bad Bunny’s first Emmy win, making his halftime show the second to ever win in the live variety special category, following the 2022 Pepsi Super Bowl LVI show featuring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, and 50 Cent. Both shows were produced by Jay-Z.

Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance on February 8, 2026, drew attention beyond the football field. He opened the show walking through rows of sugar cane, a nod to Puerto Rico's history of colonization, before performing songs from his 2025 album "Debí Tirar Más Fotos."
The show also featured cameos from Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin, among other A-listers, and closed with Bad Bunny climbing a utility pole in a segment referencing the island's recurring blackouts.

The performance had drawn criticism, including from President Trump, who described it as "absolutely terrible." Bad Bunny didn't respond directly during the show, but he closed his show with a message on the stadium screen: "The only thing more powerful than hate is love."
