Lori Loughlin Files for Divorce, Sources Say It's About a Clean Break, Not a New Romance

After weathering a college admissions scandal, two prison sentences, and a year of living apart, Lori Loughlin is officially putting an end to her marriage to Mossimo Giannulli.

After nearly 30 years of marriage and a public scandal that landed them in prison, Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli are headed for divorce.

Loughlin filed the paperwork on September 4, citing irreconcilable differences as the cause, according to court documents obtained by People.

The documents also revealed the "Full House" star listed August 25, 2025, as the date of separation, and a signed prenup is in place, while spousal support is yet to be determined.

Sources close to Loughlin tell TMZ the decision wasn't due to a third party on the actress’s part. She just no longer wanted to remain married to Giannulli after living separately for over a year.

At the time, Loughlin reportedly didn't consider herself single and just wanted a fresh start. Her busy filming schedule has also left little room for dating.

Part of that fresh start includes Loughlin reactivating her Instagram. She announced her return to social media on August 31, with the help of her “Full House” costars, who joined her in the announcement clip, which became her first post.

She has since shared a few more clips, including one that thanked her followers for the warm welcome and another where she hopefully writes, “Here’s to things working out.”

Loughlin deactivated her Instagram back in 2019 following her involvement in the college admissions scandal. She and Giannulli were accused of paying a consultant to ensure their daughters’ entry into college, falsely claiming they were crew team recruits. The couple pleaded guilty and were sentenced to prison, Loughlin for two months, and Giannulli, five months.
